Boot-shaped, thick Roman red military brick bearing the stamp of the Roman 14th Legionary army. The insignia of the army, LEG.XIIII.G is prominently stamped in planta pedis style. From Carnuntum (modern day Vienna), Lower Austria.
Dimensions: 12 inches (30 cm) at widest point x 7.6 inches (19 cm)
Condition: Choice example with well-centered, very readable stamp.
Provenance: Formerly the property of Dr. Helmut Zapfe, Austria, who build an extraordinary collection and was an expert on Roman military bricks.
